Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen, Charles University, invites you to the seminar of the visiting professor of Charles University Dr. Václav Větvička, Ph.D., University of Louisville, Department of Pathology, Louisville, Kentucky, USA.

The seminar will focus on PhD study: Two different projects: different basis for academic writing.

Dr. Václav Větvička, Ph.D. He graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Charles University and until 1991he worked at the Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. Since 1991 he has worked at School of Medicine, Dept. of Pathology, University of Louisville, Louisville, KY, USA. He is an author of more than 200 scientific publications, 7 books and 8 international patents.

In July 2019 the team headed by Dr. Pavel Vodicka (Laboratory of Tumor Treatment and Tissue Regeneration at Biomedical Center, Pilsen) succeeded to publish original manuscript: „Relationship of telomere length in colorectal cancer patients with cancer phenotype and patient prognosis” in British Journal of Cancer.

From November 4 to November 8 2019, the Biomedical Center of our Faculty hosted esteemed international visitors. Following up upon a long-term collaboration including one international grant funded from the Erasmus+ program, we had the honor to welcome two professors from Rome. Prof. Alberto Paoluzzi from Italian Roma Tre University and Prof. Antonio DiCarlo from CECAM-IT-SIMUL Node are specialized in the field of computational modeling and object representation.

The second meeting of inventors in West Bohemia INOVUJEME PLZEŇ (Innovating Pilsen) was organized at DEPO2015 on the 6th November 2019. Inventors presented the latest developments in Internet of Things, drones and robotics with possible applications on the improvement of life quality in cities. Universities presented their faculties and institutes showing on overview of their research. The Laboratory of cancer treatment and tissue regeneration lead by Vaclav Liška (Biomedical Center, Charles University, Faculty of Medicine) contributed to the event by exposing the research on liver tissue engineering.

The second annual meeting of our research project "Centrum of Clinical and Experimental Liver Surgery" (UNCE/MED/006) was held on Saturday, November 23, 2019. The members of our team as well as our colleagues from collaborating labs presented their results. We've also arranged the details on future collaboration. The meeting progressed in a relaxed and friendly way, free from the tight schedules of busy work days.
