After a decade of collaboration with Italian colleagues, a pivotal paper has been published on the investigation of microRNA in the stool of patients with colorectal cancer, patients with polyps in the intestine and individuals without cancer. The final results revealed a typical, unique combination of microRNAs occurring in patients with cancer and advanced adenoma. The published result provides new insights and broadens the spectrum of non-invasive methods for the diagnosis and possibly also follow-up of colorectal cancer. We congratulate the authors of the paper and wish them much success in their future work.
