From November 12 to November 15, a course of surgical suturing was held at the Biomedical Center under the auspices of the Department of Surgery represented by Assoc. prof. Václav Liška, MD, PhD. This year’s class was the third installment of the course and a total of 107 students took the class in the period of 4 days. Tutored by clinicians from the Department of Surgery as well as by several pre-graduate medical students, the trainees practiced the basics of work with surgical instruments, skin suture and knotting techniques. The students also learned the essentials of suturing materials and needles. The goal of the course is to provide students with the possibility to exercise practical skills for which there is not enough room in the regular curriculum. The class is held every year in the winter semester as a facultative course for students from 2nd to 5th term.
