Prof. Uta Dahmen (sitting) and dr. Claudia Schindler (third from right) were both taking part in scientific discussions as well as in practical experiments done as routine activities of the lab. Prof. Dahmen is a head of Experimental Transplantation Surgery group at the Clinic of General, Visceral and Vascular Surgery at the University Hospital in Jena; her research is focused on liver disorders using murine and rat models. Collaboration with the group in Pilsen is being developed mainly in order to study liver decellularization and recellulatization, and thus the visitors also attended a decellularization experiment with porcine liver (in the box on the right hand side). Prof. Dahmen also regularly comes to Pilsen as a lecturer for Summer School of Experimental Surgery that is annualy organized by the Biomedical Center.
