Biomedical Center belongs to Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen at Charles University, Czech Republic. Its primary focus is on research and development in the field of replacement and regeneration of vital organs. Job description:
Head of the Laboratory of Tumor Biology is expected to lead a small existing team (two junior level scientists, technical assistant and two Ph.D. students) and to expand current and begin novel research topics focused on cancer biology, pathology and treatment. Major responsibility of the laboratory leader will be coordination of research projects, application for grant support and personal development of the team. Therefore, candidate is obliged to present her/his plan and strategy for the laboratory development for next two years as a part of job application. For successful fulfilment of the position, candidate will have to show substantial project application activity in coming two years and apply for national and international grants (Czech Science Foundation, Czech Health Research Council, PRIMUS of Charles University, ERC or similar relevant grants). Candidate is expected to get involved in the research projects focusing on molecular mechanisms of cancer development, to work on translational research and be able to aim on clinically relevant research, preferentially using colorectal cancer as model tumor type.
Requirements:
- Adequate publication activity in IF journals (at least 10 publications; at least 5 publications as a first/last and/or corresponding author) in the last 5 years
- A prior experience with grants and projects as project leader
- A prior experience with genome and transcriptome analysis (whole-genome sequencing, qRT-PCR and/or microarray analysis and so on)
- Advanced skills with other molecular methods, e.g. electrophoresis, western blot, immunoprecipitation
- Ability to lead co-workers and students and clearly present her/his research ideas
